SRINAGAR, January 16: Police Friday foiled protest march of Jammu and Kashmir
Liberation Front (JKLF) against settling of West Pakistan Refugee and detained its chairman Mohammad Yasin Malik along with his supporters.
Malik led the protest march of JKLF activists from party headquarters at Maisuma towards Lal Chowk. Carrying placards and banners, the JKLF activists were chanting anti-India and pro-freedom slogans.
Police and CRPF men, who were deployed in strength in the area, intercepted the procession and resorted to heavy tear smoke shelling and Lathi charge to quell the protests.
Association of Parents of Disappeared Persons (APDP) chairperson Parveena Ahangar who was accompanying Malik during the march fell unconscious because of heavy tear smoke, was shifted to hospital.
