PAMPORE, December 22: Spice board of India in collaboration with agriculture department
Pulwama held a training camp for the saffron growers at Jammu and
Kashmir Entrepreneur Development Institute (JKEDI) Pampore where the growers were given awareness about the enhancement of the production.
Senior Scientist SKAUST-K F A Nehvi, who was chief guest on the occasion informed the growers about different ways of oincreasing saffron production.

“Saffron production decrease due to inclemrnt weather so certain
technique need to be utilized to overcome the fa ctors affecting production,” said Nehvi, adding that low production was the result of
lack of attention to the crop from November to March.
While talking to Sachnews Jammu  Kashmir All Saffron Growers Marketing Development Co-operative Association President Abdul Majid Wani said that such type of training camps are need of the hour and the department should take steps to include more and more growers in it.
In the  more than 50 farmers participated and the prominent among them were all saffron growers association members including General Secretary Javid Ahmad Ganaie, Vice President M.Ashraf secratery
Information Publicity Ghulam Mohiudin and other members of association were also present.
