Awantipora police destroys illegal poppy cultivation; 10 arrested

AWANTIPORA, May 26: In continuation to the special drive launched by Awantipora Police for destroy illegal poppy cultivation, today a Police team headed by SDPO Awantipora along with SHO Awantipora destroyed a huge junk of poppy cultivation spread over more than 40 Kanals of land in village Chersoo area of Awantipora. 10 person involved in cultivation of illegal poppy have been arrested under relevant sections of NDPS Act. The details of arrested persons are:

General public of the area have appreciated the action of Police and have urged the authorities to continue this drive in nearby areas also. Persons found indulging in drug peddling & cultivation of contraband substances shall be dealt strictly under law.
