Principal Secretary AP&FWD inaugurates Interactive session on Agro and Related Sector Schemes under “Aatma Nirbhar Bharat” at SKAUST- Kashmir

Srinagar, November 25: Navin Kumar Choudhary, Principal Secretary, Agriculture Production and Farmers Welfare Department, J&K in presence of Vice Chancellor SKUAST today inaugurated one day interactive session on Agro and related schemes. He appreciated the efforts of CII for creating such interactive platforms and invited young entrepreneurs to come forward with proposals to set up units and assured the full support of his entire team.

Also, he urged the universities to help and handhold their students develop feasible business models taking advantage of the available market. Further, he discussed Top to Total Scheme in which 50 percent cost of saving in CA Store will be given by Government of India & 50 percent transportation charge will also be given for transporting to a destination of more than 100 Km. Navin said that agri business is the future of JK UT and has a competitive advantage with respect to other parts of the country, officials told Sachnews.

Altaf Aijaz Andrabi Director Agriculture Kashmir highlighted various farmer friendly schemes during the program and requested the farming community to avail the schemes for sustenance and their economic prosperity.

Ms Poornima Mittal, Director, Animal Husbandry illustrated different schemes under the Atma Nirbhar Bharat including the Cold storage schemes, Formalization of Micro Enterprises, and Agri Infrastructure fund.

Earlier, while welcoming eminent speakers and participants, Mr Farooq Amin, Chairman, CII J&K stated that the involvement of the population is more in Agriculture and Horticulture activities and hence there is a need to increase the productivity, quality and bring in technologies for transforming value chains of this sector and Dr Mushtaq Ahmed, Vice- Chancellor, SKAUST- Kashmir concluded the by expressing his gratitude to all the present eminent speakers for the session

Other officials present during the session were Jahangir Hashmi Additional Secretary Horticulture, Altaf Aijaz Andrabi, Director Agriculture, Kashmir ,Shafat Sultan, MD, JKHPMC, Ajaz Ahmad Bhat, Director Horticulture, Kashmir , Dr Abdul Salam Mir, Director, Sheep Husbandry, Kashmir.

The session was attended by more than 70 participants which consisted of budding entrepreneurs, progressive farmers and interested students, Academicians and officials of the Agriculture production department.

Later Principal Secretary chaired a buyer-seller meet through virtual mode to promote the global trade of Kashmiri Saffron.
