EGA aghast over manhandling of feild staff, urge authorities to issue them valid movement passes

SRINAGAR, May 05:

The joint action committee of Engineering Graduate Association’s (Civil & Mechanical) in a meeting has expressed deep concern over the hurdles being faced by operational staff and field engineer’s during travel to work places and the recent incident faced by Assistant Engineer electrical at Antanang ,when the official who was attending essential Service duty of COVID-19 with valid movement pass issued by District Administration Antanang was harassed , beaten and imprisoned by officials of police on duty .

In a joint statement issued to Sachnews Er Firdous Ahmad and Er Farooq Ahamed has expressed deep concern over the difficulties faced by Engineers and other staff members of all essential Engineering departments during travel amid lockdown and pleaded the Divisional Commissioner ‘s to issue on urgent basis the instructions to respective District Magistrates for issuance of Valid movement pass or treat identity cards as movement pass, because on one side these COVID-19 warriors (Engineer’s) are delivering their best in maintenance and supply essential services including in Hospitals , Quarantine centers etc but on other side they r being harrassed during movement .

As a strong appeal ,we hope Divisional Commissioner’s both at Srinagar and Jammu will on priority take issue with concerned District Magistrates and issuance of passes or treating of Deparmental Identity cards as Movement passes should be declared at an earliest .Also instructions to concern security agencies for not stopping essential service staff movement should be addressed, Publicity secretary JAC Graduate Engineers said.
